Join 3AW's Ross Stevenson for a cocktail style lunch to hear from passionate AFL supporters who will read their ‘Love Letter to Football’ sharing their personal relationship and experiences with the great game and the teams they support.
GIL McLACHLAN. What a legacy the outgoing AFL CEO will leave. Significant doesn’t even begin to describe it. Supporters have always felt that the game is safe in this man’s hands because he loves the game as much as they do. We are going to miss him. And his magnificent hair.
ALAN McLEAN. After a career in the community sector heading up Australian Red Cross, the Organ Donor Registry, Crime Stoppers Victoria, the overseas aid agency Red R Australia and playing F grade amateurs with Ross, McLean now scribbles local history books and organises reunions of country footy premiership teams.
ANDREW WESTACOTT. Throughout the pandemic Andrew Westacott fronted up speaking to all who asked for his time. That is leadership. The Australian Grand Prix is the best and most professionally run event on the Formula One calendar. Thanks to him and his team. And he loves his footy. He will tell us no doubt about the history of the front fence of his house.
CAROLINE WILSON. A trailblazing journalist of over 40 years, and in 2022 continues to be as relevant and respected as ever. She will be forever known as the woman who smashed the glass ceiling for women in sports reporting. She loves footy and footy has every right to love her.
LAUREN WOOD. Lauren has established herself as one of football medias brightest young stars – highly skilled, personable and dedicated. Her stories in the Herald Sun are thoughtful and considered and she has always had her finger on the pulse as to what’s happening in both men’s and the women’s game.
